Illud est is a Latin phrase, known by its abbreviation “i.e.”, meaning "that is to say" in the sense of "that means" or "which means”. At Illud est our work often aims to translate our clients´ innovative ideas into clear plans that can be funded and implemented.
Illud est is a consultancy firm specialising in the design, technical backstopping and evaluation of aid investments. Our recent activities include technical support for a World Bank Group loan in Indonesia, program design for the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Nepal and technical support to the Australian Centre for International Agriculture Research (ACIAR).
Illud est founding director, Julien de Meyer, is responsible for the day-to-day operations, business development, project management and implementation of mandates.
As well, we design training and coaching sessions based on our expertise and experience and deliver them to staff and managers of aid investments.

2022 – South Pacific Commission (SPC) – Illud est is supporting SPC Member countries in developing a Regional Research Agenda for agriculture research in the Pacific.
2022 - Swiss Development Corporation (SDC) - Results Based Management and coaching support for Burundi, Rwanda and the Central American Region – Training and coaching delivered in Spanish and French.
2021 - Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations - Illud est provided the services of its director Julien de Meyer, as the Team Leader of the EU funded project on Strengthening of Agricultural Advisory Services in Azerbaijan.
2021 - Swiss Development Corporation (SDC) - Results Based Management and coaching support for Global Program Migration, Mozambique and Tanzania Country Programs.
2021 – Swiss Development Corporation (SDC) – On going contract as coordinator and lead trainer for results-based management (RBM) training, as a founding partner of the IKAT Consortium.
2021 – Swiss Embassy in Nepal – Carried out capacity building on RBM, quality assurance and coaching, a mid-term review of the country strategy, and country strategy development.
2021 - SDC - Provide support for elaboration of the Swiss Cooperation Program in Albania, South Caucasus, Central Asia and Haiti.
2020 - SDC - Provided support to develop a Business Development Services project in Nepal.
2020 – Helvetas – Coordinated the design of a technical and vocational training investment.
2022 - Abt Associates – Illud est provided MEL services to support Australian and Indonesian team members in relation to M&E and impact assessment of agricultural research and provided input and technical backstopping related to the Indonesian agriculture R&D system.
2022 - Swiss Development Corporation (SDC) – Illudest provided services to SDC for a Cost Benefit Analysis / Economic and Financial Analysis of two Water and Sanitation investment in Mozambique.
2021 - Crawford Fund - Julien de Meyer is part of a team that will revise the “Doing Well by Doing Good” report. A new look at benefits accruing from Australia’s investments in agricultural research and development.
